CELEBRATION OF
CHRISTMAS -2017 AT. PAUL’S
CHURCH
MUSSAFAH, ABU DHABI.
The Konkani Community of St. Paul’s Catholic Church Mussafah,
Abu Dhabi has celebrated Christmas with a great spirit on Monday 25th
of December 2017. The Celebration began with Holy Mass at 6 pm. and the main
celebrant of the Festive Mass was Rev. Fr. Valerian Fernandes, OFM Cap,
Chancellor, AVOSA. A large number of faithfuls were attended this Festal Mass.
Immediately after the Holy Mass, a short cultural programme was arranged which was compered by Ms. Jennifer Lopez. The highlight of the evening was that of arrival of Santa Claus with his attire and all children surrounded him with joy and happiness and dancing and asking for gifts. Santa Claus has distributed lots of sweets to children and gifts to adults which have created a festive mood.
The highlight of this festivity is preparation and distribution of Kuswar- traditional sweets prepared in every household. Kuswar consists 8 different varieties which is distributed to all faithful who have attended the festive mass.
The melodious choir added further color to the Holy Mass which was led by Mr. Ashwin Dias and his choir team which also sang Konkani Christmas carols for about half an hour at the end of the mass. All faithful participated in singing these carols and thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated.
Rev. Fr. Valerian Fernandes, has appreciated the community for their festive spirit and appreciated for their dedicated hard work and prayed success in their career as well. He also praised and appreciated their contribution of the Konkani community and within a short span of 30 months how the community has united and grown tremendously.
The program was concluded around 8:30 pm with the vote of thanks given by Mr. Robert Cardin and requests all the faithful to attend in large number for New Year mass at 11:00 a.m. on New Year day. All faithful left happily with festive mood with the delicious Kuswar in their hands.
