CELEBRATION OF
MONTHI FEST AT ST. PAUL’S
CHURCH, MUSSAFAH, ABU DHABI.
The Konkani Community of St.
Paul’s Church Mussafah, Abu Dhabi has celebrated Monthi fest 2017 on Friday 8th September 2017 with a
great fervor. The celebration began at
5.30pm with blessings of New Corn near
Mother Mary’s Grotto by Rev. Fr. Valerian Fernandes OFM Cap, Chancellor followed
by showering of flowers with Hymns glorifying and honoring of Mother Mary. Rev.
Fr. Peter Mendonca OFM Cap and Rev. Fr. Ashok Gonsalves OFM Cap were present
during this ceremony. After the ceremony, the congregation entered the church
with a glorious procession. The festive mass started by first honoring and
distributing the sponsorship candles to all donors. The main celebrant of the
mass was Rev, Fr. Peter Mendonca, OFM
Cap. and the co-celebrant was Rev. Fr. Ashok Gonsalves, OFM Cap., Spiritual
Director, St. Paul’s Konkani community, Mussafah, Abu Dhabi. A large number of
faithful over attended this festive
mass.
After the prayer, we had lighting of lamp ceremony by all Priests, Guests of Honor, and all members of the Konkani Community Apex Team. A huge special cake was cut on the occasion of Mama Mary’s Birthday by all Priests and Guests of Honor. During this time, MC invited to dais all faithful who were celebrating their birthdays on that particular day. Choir played a song “Happy Birthday Mama Mary” and Cake and Juice was distributed to all guests and attendees.
The cultural programme began with a theme song Nove Jeevan Suru Karya” Lyrics by Mr. Suresh Saldanha, played by Choir Group Ashwin and his team followed by kids dance titled “ Yeh Pavsa” . It was a beautiful dance by young children. A loud applause was given to this kids for their beautiful performance.
This was followed by a adult dance “Mog Muliyar itlo Borogi” performed by Archillies, Sunita, Aaron, Caroline, Avinash, Cresilla, Jaison, Joythi, Vivian and Vinita. The audience gave them a rousing applause for the wonderful performance. A short comedy skit was performed by Vivian and Joy who kept the audience very humorous.
A fusion Hindi dance was played by young kids-Alric, Ethan, Ian, Cleon, Crissal Ruth, Monal and Monisha made the audience to tap their feet and kept them entertaining. A English/Hindi dance titled Remix was performed by Charlotte, Angelet, Nigel and Neil. It was a thrilling performance by our young kids where they gave the feel of both English and Hindi song which is liked by all audience and gave them a good round of applause.
The final cultural programme of the day was an adult dance “Yego Mary” performed by Sunitha, Clevi, Aaron, Caroline, Cresilla, Avinash, Vanessa, Vivian and Vinitha. Audience thoroughly enjoyed this dance raised slogan “once more”. It was a beautiful performance and crowed saw them off with rousing applause.
MC kept the crowed very busy with his witty jokes and gave away lots of spot prizes.
A vote of thanks was given by Apex team member Mr. Arvin Quadros and thanked all people for their continued support . Rev. Fr. Ashok also thanked also sponsors, donors, Ushers and the faithful’s who support each and every events of Konkani community and sought their support for their future similar events.
MC requested Rev. Fr. Peter Mendonca to bless the blessed rice-Corn with milk and Rev. Fr. Paul Koenig Grace before meal. MC has requested to all people proceed with the dinner which was served traditional 9 different types of vegetables and vorn (Payasam).
The Baila dance for all made the people to come and dance. The program ended with singing Laudate domino by the all.
It was a memorable evening enjoyed and cherished by all.
